28th Mid-East Cross Country Championships - Indiana's Anna Rohrer Impresses!

 In the 28th version of the Mid-East Cross Country Championships , Indiana and Mishawka HS's Anna Rohrer, the 2014 Indiana Girls State Champion,  was impressive.  She went out hard from the beginning, led all the way winning in 17:35.  Jesse Hersha  of Concord HS, a three time State Champion in Div. 4 in Michigan. won the boys race in 15:27.  The Ohio Girl's team won the girls race in a tie-breaker over Indiana.  Indiana won the boy's team race.

Anna Rohrer of Concord HS in Indiana is the Indiana State Champion.  She ran an impressive race in the cold, leading the entire way and winning by 38 seconds over the #6 girls in the Indiana State meet this year, Rachel Nichwitz of Hamilton Southeastern (18:13). Worthington Kilbourne's Emily Stoodley, 5th in the Ohio D1 race this year, led the Ohio team with her 3rd place run (18:31).  Sarah Kanney of Coldwater, the girls D3 State Champion this year, ran 4th in 18:34.  Gina Patterson of Macomb Lutheran North in Michigan was 5th in 18:34. 

 

Girls Team

The girl's team race was won by Ohio in a tie breaker.  The Ohio and Indiana teams both finished with 37 points.  Ohio placed 5 in the top 13 and Indiana place their 5 inthe top 15.  Ohio's sixth, runner, Fallon Doyle of Bellaire St. Johns ran 16th in the race (19:03) finishing ahead of Indiana's Stacey Metzger of Ft. Wayne Carroll who was 19th (19:08).  Third place went to Michigan with 60 points. Illinois was 4th with 130 points.'

Ohio's Scorers: Emily Stoodley (Worthington Kilbourne) 3rd, Sarah Kanney (Coldwter) 4th, Brittany Atkinson (Liberty Center) 6th, Claire Wiles (Olentangy Liberty) 11th, Taylor Vernot (Wauseon) 13th and Fallon Doyle (Bellaire St. Johns) 16th.

Boys Race

The boys race was won by Jesse Hersha (Concord) of Michigan in an excellent time of 15:27.  Hersha is three time State Champion in the the  D4 Division in Michigan. 2nd place went to Indiana's Mark Beckman (Dekalb) with a time of 15:43.  Beckman was 5th in the Indiana State Meet this year.  Michigan's Nick Schmidt (Davison) was 3rd in 15:47.  4th went to another Indiana runner, Brandon Arnold of West Noble (15:47).  Arnold was 8th inthe Indiana State meet this year.  5th place went to Ohio's Logan Smith of Mineral Ridge in a time of 15:47.  Smith was 2nd in Ohio's D3 Boys State Championship this year.  

Team Race

The Boys' Team race was won by Indiana who scored 29 points.  Michigan was 2nd with 39.  Ohio 3rd with 62 and Illinoiis 4th with 140.  the Michgan boys ran 2, 4, 6, 7 and 10th  with a seperation of just 17 seconds. The Michigan scorers were: Mark Beckman (Dekalb) 2nd, Branden Arnold (West Noble) 4th, Daniel Fleace (North Harrison) 6th, Griffin Miller (Center Grove) 7th and Fergus Arther (Bloomington North) 10th.
