First Marietta HS Open Recap

While the second official weekend of Indoor Track and Field only had one meet, some big performances were turned in at Marietta College in their first of four high school indoor meets this year. 

Kayla Caldwell goes big in the girls pole vault and we finally have leaders in the weight throw.

 

Boys Recap/ Boys Results

Wes Eades barely edged out Anthony Chandler (Zanesville) 6.53 to 6.54 seconds to start the meet off in the 55m dash.  Eades had a tremendous day, taking home the silver in the 200m with a time of 23.42 seconds, only trailing Jeravin Matthews of Canon-McMillan (PA) by less than a quarter of a second, and also placing fourth in the 400m and the Long Jump.

In the 55m hurdles Robert Jones (Cuyahoga Falls) held off Bryan Womak (Wayne), winning with a time of 7.81 to Womak's 7.83 seconds in the finals.

In the shot put, Eric Myers won the event, going 53'4.25", beating runner up Corey Linsley's (Youngstwon Boardman)  toss of 51'9.25". 

Ethan Reese (Byesville Meadowbrook) took an early lead in Ohio for the weight throw, heaving the 25lb. weight 45'10". 

Girls Recap/ Girls Results

Erin Busbee (Collinwood) had a busy and productive meet.  After winning the 55m dash, 7.46 to 7.51 seconds over Shankqua Stallworth (Dunbar), Busbee went on to run a leg on both of the winning 4x200 and 4x400 relays and also won the long jump with a jump of 16'8".  Stallworth went on to win the 200m in a time of 26.96 seconds.

Janelle Avery (Wayne) cruised to a victory in the 1600, besting runner up Jessica Zimak (Trinity PA) by more than eight seconds.

Kayla Caldwell (Indian Valley) showed that she was ready to claim the state record in the pole vault outright after vaulting 12'6" this early in the indoor season.  Caldwell already owns the outdoor DII state record in the pole vault and is tied for the all division record with her vault from last year of 12'9".
