DIII Boys State XC Meet - A Preview! Who will be on the Podium?

Maplewood Sr. Tristan Dahmen is the defending D3 Boys State Champion. He and his teammate Sr. Allen Sparks have run 1-2 for Maplewood the last two years and hsuld lead the Maplewood boys to another team title. (photo Dushan Bouchek)

Below is a list of the current Top 10 D3 boys. It shows their school, their grade, their finish and time in last years 2014 State meet, if they participated, and their finish and time in their respective 2015 Regional. Maplewood Sr. Tristan Dahmen is the defending D3 Boys State Champion (15:57.53).

He and his teammate Sr. Allen Sparks have run 1-2 for Maplewood the last two years and should lead the Maplewood boys to another team title. Dahmen won the Boardman Regional in 15:24.80. He is the #1 D3 ranked boy and should defend his title. Sparks was 3rd last year in 16:06.12, but ran 7th in the Boardman Regional.

The #2 ranked D3 boys is Sr. Aaron Wood of Fisher Catholic. Wood won the Pickerington Regional over a group of very good runners. He was 13th last year.

Antwerp Sr. Sam Williamson is the #3 ranked D3 runner in the State and won the Tiffin Regional. He was 5th last year.

Watch for the Troy runner-up, Sr. Joey Adams of West Liberty-Salem

and Independence Jr. Tyler Poman, #2 at Boardman to be in the mix for the 4 and 5 spots on the podium. They both ran well at Regionals.

DIII Boys Team Race

Maplewood is the #1 Ranked D3 boys team in the State and they are the defending State Champions. They should easily repeat as State champions. The Maplewood team: 1. Sr. Tristan Dahmen, 2. Sr. Allen Sparks, 3. Jr. Jake Hall, 4. Sr. Nate Keeney, 5 So. Ethan Sparks, 6. Jr. Mike Shipman and 7. Jr. Nick Cowger.

The virtual meet has Fairfield -Leesburg in the #2 spot. They are ranked D3 #8. However, they finished 2nd to Fredericktown, the D3 #7 ranked team in the Pickerington Regional. Fredericktown scored 91 to Fairfield - Leesburgs 92. The Boardman Regional however, featured the #1-4 ranked D3 teams and that is how they finished. 1. Maplewood (46), 2. St. Thomas Aquinas (65), 3. McDonald (122) and 4. Col. Crawford (144). Liberty Center is the #5 ranked D3 team and they won the Tiffin Region. It will be an interesting race to see who grabs the #2 and 3 spots on the podium.
