NEOITC - Erie Division #2 - Event Recap

Shaker Heights runners finished 1 through 4 in the Girls 3200m race.  Sophie Carrier, shown leading above, took the win in 11:14.64.

The Spire Institute in Geneva again played host to the ongoing NEOITC series and this time it was the Erie Division's turn to produce some impressive numbers.

The 400m was one of the evening's highlights, as four athletes registered under 51 second showings.  Grand Valley senior Sam Morris led the way with his 50.16 finish and he was followed closely by Noah Glavikas (50.42), Connor Duricky in 50.51 and Clarence Jones (50.80).  Like Morris, Glavikas represents Grand Valley, while Duricky and Jones attend Lake Catholic and Shaker Heights respectively.

The aforementioned Connor Duricky had a busy night as he also competed in 60m hurdles action.  Here, he crossed the line in a highly competitive statewide time of 8.06.  In the 800m, three athletes broke the elusive 2 minute barrier, as Danny Cohen, Logan Esper and Derek Jones claimed the podium spots with Solon High School's Cohen leading the charge in an impressive 1:58.89.  Esper, also from Solon, was not far behind in 1:59.11 and Jones, of Pennsylvania's Cathedral Prep, rounded out the top 3 with his time of 1:59.67.

Connor Duricky had a big night with fine showings in both the 60m Hurdles and the 400m.

In girls competition, the 1600m saw fast times up front with Solon's Olivia Howell, Chagrin Falls' Annie Zimmer, Shaker Heights' Annimee Reimers and Carlee Constable of Villa Maria Academy all running well under 5:20.  Howell's finishing time was 5:14.21, while Zimmer claimed second in 5:15.33.  Reimers and Constable rounded out the top 4 with results of 5:15.81 (Reimers) and 5:18.62 (Constable).

Sophie Carrier of Shaker Heights High School captured an emphatic victory in the 3200m with her 11:14.64 effort, meanwhile in the 400m - two girls took down the 1 minute benchmark with Faith Banks of Nordonia winning in 58.60 and not far behind was Villa Maria's Grace Brown with her 59.80 clocking.  The 60m saw terrific performances produced by both Keyonna Mcgill of Shaker Heights and Faith Banks.  The win went to Mcgill with her 7.75 mark while Banks was right on her heels as she claimed 2nd with a time of 7.82.

This is just a sample of the many great results that were recorded throughout the evening.  For a full breakdown of the events, see here:
