NEOITC - Buckeye Division #3 - Event Recap

           Na'shawn Collins led early and held on to win a closely contested 800m race. 


The NEOITC series resumed on Thursday evening as the Spire Institute hosted the Buckeye Division for their 3rd meet of the season.

Euclid High School's Caisja Chandler continued her excellent form as she won the 60m sprint in 7.88 and the 200m race in 25.81.  Chandler also sealed Euclid's 4 x 400m Relay win as she ran the anchor leg for the Panthers.  Chandler's 60m time is a tie for #16 in the state rankings.  


           Caisja Chandler has won several races in the NEOITC series this season. 


In other action on the girls side, Grace Steimle of the Maple Leaf Track Club secured a victory in the 3200m by putting an 11 second gap on 2nd place finisher Denali Selent of Chardon. Steimle controlled the lead for the majority of the race and her finishing time was an impressive 11:42.20. Meanwhile, in the Pole-Vault competition Lily Baker of Chardon HS claimed 1st place with her vault of 10-0.  


           Grace Steimle has proven to be difficult to top in the distance races at Spire this season.  


           Pole-Vault winner Lily Baker easily vaulted over the introductory heights. 


The Boys 800m saw Na'shawn Collins of Cleveland Heights hold off Chardon's Nate Kawalec in an exciting finish. Collins registered a time of 2:02.64 while Kawalec was not far behind in 2:02.68. Collins' teammate Ja Keith James won the 60m in 7.19 and Euclid's Adam White claimed the win in the 60m Hurdles with his 8.71 clocking.  


           Na'shawn Collins showed resiliency in holding off the field in a close 800m race. 


           Ja Keith James of Cleveland Heights High School won the 60m in a fast time of 7.19.  


           Adam White of Euclid High School took control early in winning the Boys 60m Hurdles.  


In the 1600m, Chardon High School's Brian Horton edged the Maple Leaf Track Club's Tim Steimle at the line as both boys put forth strong performances. Horton's time was 4:42.31 while Steimle finished in 4:42.97. Kenston High School was victorious in the 4 x 800m Relay as they took a commanding 14 second win over 2nd place Euclid High School.  The Bombers captured the win in 8:27.80 and their time represents an Ohio #16 for that event. 


           Chardon High School's Brian Horton surged late to secure the 1600m win. 


           Kenston's Sam Slezak finished off the Bombers' 4 x 800m Relay win.
