MileSplit Scholastic Showcase at Spire - Girls Shot-Put Recap

Nicole Berry set a new P.R. in the Shot-Put on her way to winning the event.

The MileSplit Scholastic Showcase at Spire produced an incredible amount of elite performances in both the track and the field events. Several new Ohio and other state #'1's were achieved and those in attendance at the Spire Institute were also treated to a number of new facility records and a few U.S. #1's for the 2017 indoor season!

We will begin our coverage on the aftermath of this prestigious meet with the tremendous showing that was observed in the Girls Shot-Put competition.  Nicole Berry of Franklin Monroe High School claimed 1st place with her powerful throw of 47-06.50.  Berry's mark is an Ohio #2, a U.S. #4 and a new Spire Institute indoor record for high school girls!

Nicole Berry was the top performer in the highly competitive Shot-Put event.

Nicole Berry edged high level competitors Tori McKinley of Pennsylvania's Hickory and Anthony Wayne's Madison Pollard to secure her well earned win. McKinley's 2nd place effort of 46-04.00 was just ahead of Pollard's 45-10.50 result.  Congratulations to all three of these athletes as they helped to push one another to excellence during this entertaining competition.

Tori McKinley of Hickory HS is the top ranked Shot-Put athlete in the state of Pennsylvania.

Anthony Wayne High School's Madison Pollard is ranked #3 in Ohio and #5 nationally.
