MileSplit Scholastic Showcase at Spire - Final Report

Khance Meyers and Ayden Owens finished 1-2 in a deep field of 200m runners.

Last weekend's MileSplit Scholastic Showcase at Spire brought together some of the best track and field talent in the United States and Canada and the presence of these athletes led to an incredible amount of elite performances being produced. This premier meet has required several separate summaries to be posted over the past week due to the countless phenomenal displays of athleticism that were demonstrated at the Spire Institute on February 12th.

Here is the final recap:

In 60m Hurdles action, Ann Arbor's
Britten Bowen and Canadian, Liam Mather claimed wins at the Showcase.  Bowen finished in 8.61 to edge the Spire Academy's Charisma Taylor at the line.  Taylor recorded an 8.65 2nd place result and her 8.63 time in the prelims race is a new Ohio #1.  Meanwhile, Mather's 8.02 topped Woodridge's Jacob Mally, who registered a time of 8.25.

Undeniably, Pickerington Central's McKenzie Long and Kaylyn Heath of Lakota East engaged in the closest race of the meet as both girls tied for 1st place with their matching 7.55 efforts in the 60m finals. This ranks the two girls in a tie for an Ohio #2 and a U.S. #24 and a tie for 6th on the Spire Institute's All Time list.

On the boys side, it was Khance Meyers from Grand Rapids who took the 60m win in 6.84.  Meyers was not done there, however, as he won the 200m race later in the afternoon.  His 21.44 in the 200m is a U.S. #9 and it was just ahead of The Gazelles' Ayden Owens who clocked a U.S. #10 time of 21.51.  Additionally, these times represent the #3 and #4 marks on the Spire Institute's All Time list.

The Boys 400m saw James Flournoy of the Michigan All Stars and Lockport's Treston White put on a show, as they both produced low 49 second results.  Flournoy's 1st place effort of 49.00 was just ahead of White's 49.14.  With these performances, Flournoy is now ranked 7th on the Spire Institute's All Time list while White occupies the 13th position.
