OATCCC Indoor State Championship - D1 Girls Team Relay Events Report

           Gahanna Lincoln High School won the 4 x 200m competition in Akron. 


The OATCCC Indoor State Championship was held in Akron on Saturday, March 4th and it brought Ohio's best track and field athletes to the Stile Athletics Field House on the campus of the University of Akron.

Previous recap articles focused on boys and girls field events in both D1 and D2 / D3, so today we will begin our review of some of the outstanding team relay performances that were demonstrated at the state championship meet.

In Girls D1 action, it was all Gahanna Lincoln as the Lions swept the relay events with victories in the 4 x 200m, 4 x 400m and 4 x 800m races. 

The 4 x 200m event saw Gahanna Lincoln produce an Ohio #2 and U.S. #23 time of 1:42.37 while 2nd place Euclid High School recorded an Ohio #3 and U.S. #33 result of 1:42.94.


           Gahanna Lincoln held off Euclid High School to win the 4 x 200m state title. 

The athletes from Mentor High School pushed Gahanna Lincoln to the line in the 4 x 400m race in one of the closest and most exciting contests of the day. Gahanna Lincoln's time of 3:57.97 narrowly edged Mentor who finished in 3:58.05.  Mentor's result represents an Ohio #2 and U.S. #32 while Gahanna Lincoln has a previous time from this season that ranks them 1st in Ohio and 19th in the country.


           Gahanna Lincoln and Mentor High School pushed each other to fast 4 x 400m times. 

Finally, in the 4 x 800m race, Gahanna Lincoln held off Kings High School to record a 2 second victory with a finishing time of 9:18.58. This result represents an Ohio #1 and a U.S. #17 for the Lions.


           Gahanna Lincoln High School won the state championship in the 4 x 800m Relay.
