OATCCC Indoor State Championship - D2 / D3 Boys Team Relay Events Report

           Carrollton HS claimed the 4 x 800m state championship title with a come from behind win. 


The OATCCC Indoor State Championship was held in Akron on Saturday, March 4th and it brought Ohio's best track and field athletes to the Stile Athletics Field House on the campus of the University of Akron. 

Previous recap articles focused on boys and girls field events in both D1 and D2 / D3 as well as relay reports on D1, so now we will review some of the outstanding team relay performances that were demonstrated in boys D2 / D3 at the state championship meet. 

In Boys D2 / D3 relay action, St. Vincent - St. Mary High School won the 4 x 200m race, Dunbar High School took the 4 x 400m victory and Carrollton High School claimed top honors in the 4 x 800m event. 

St. Vincent - St. Mary High School took the win in the 4 x 200m competition with their impressive 1:30.56 performance. This time was 1 second faster than 2nd place finisher Warrensville Heights and it represents an Ohio #5 for the 2017 indoor season.  Warrensville Heights' time of 1:31.40 places them 8th in the state rankings. 


           St. Vincent - St. Mary High School won the 4 x 200m Relay state championship in Akron. 


In 4 x 400m action, Dunbar High School claimed the state championship with their tie for Ohio #9 winning time of 3:28.29. Fairfield Union High School were the 2nd place finishers with their 3:28.74 result. Their performance represents an Ohio #12 for the 2017 indoor season.  


           Dunbar HS ran an Ohio tie for #9 time of 3:28.29 on route to winning the 4 x 400m race. 


In one of the most compelling races of the day, Carrollton High School edged Fort Loramie at the line to capture the 4 x 800m state championship win. Carrollton's time of 8:06.37 narrowly beat the 8:06.72 effort that Fort Loramie produced.  With these results, Carrollton is ranked 10th on the state list while Fort Loramie occupies the 11th position.  


           Carrollton High School secured the 4 x 800m Relay in a winning time of 8:06.37.
