Performance Spotlight: Gracie Sprankle & Matt Scrape

Gracie Sprankle and Matt Scrape took 1st place finishes at the Les Eisenhart Invitational.

Congratulations to Olentangy Liberty's Gracie Sprankle and Pickerington Central's Matt Scrape for their impressive performances at last weekend's Les Eisenhart Invitational in Worthington.

Gracie Sprankle took the win with her time of 17:59.40 as she cruised through the finish line 17 seconds ahead of the 2nd place competitor.  This is Sprankle's 5th race win of the 2017 cross country season and the 2nd time that she's run under the elusive 18 minute standard.  Her 17:36.30 result at September's McGowan Invitational ranks her 8th in Ohio and 50th in the country.

By the end of his race, Matt Scrape had built a 20 second cushion on the runner-up and his winning time of 15:11.00 represents a season's best.  Scrape, who recently committed to Syracuse University, has collected 4 race wins in 6 starts and his latest triumph ranks him 5th in the state.

Look out for these two athletes to continue to run fast times at their upcoming post-season races!

Olentangy Liberty's Gracie Sprankle is ranked 3rd among Ohio junior athletes.

Pickerington Central's Matt Scrape has run sub 15:30 four times this season.
