Miranda Stanhope unleashed a huge finishing kick over the final 100 meters to secure the Division III race win at the OHSAA State Cross Country Championships.
Stanhope, who was coming off victories at the Trumbull County District meet and the Youngstown Region championships, was one of three athletes to dip under 19 minutes. The Badger junior went 18:51.60 to hold off runner-up, Emma Watcke (18:53.30) and third place finisher, Jenny Seas (18:57.90). Stanhope's latest triumph was her seventh of the season.
