Men Finish Ninth at MAC Cross Country Championship

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Chris Moody led the charge again for the Falcons and the Falcons finished ninth at the MAC Championship on the campus of Ohio University Saturday.
 
Kent State won the event with a team score of 30. Eastern Michigan was second (55 points) and Central Michigan was third (59). The Falcons had a team score of 283.

Junior Chris Moody led the team for the sixth time this season with a time of 27:53.5 to finish 48th. But it wasn't his best performance.
“Chris had an off day,” BGSU coach Cami Wells said. “He faded a little bit in the second half of the race.
Freshman Jason Salyer started off slow had a hard time making up ground as he ended the race in 28:19.3 to place 56th.
Junior Jesse Smuda was the third Falcon runner to cross the finish line for the sixth time this season as he completed the race in 28:53.8 for 58th place.
Jesse Smuda had a strong race from start to finish,” Wells said. “He ran a very strong race.”
Ben Leininger, a sophomore, also ran a very consistent race as he finished 60th in 29:27.8.
Juniors Johnstone Kirui (29:28.2, 61st), Abraham Busienei (29:45.6, 62nd) and sophomore Peter Miles (29:50.7, 63rd) also placed for the Falcons.
Junior John Bernard completed the race in 30:11.3 and did not place for Bowling Green.
“It's not what we were looking for,” Wells said of the finish. “We still have some work to do to move in the right direction.”
