Trish Doherty (#1138) and Emily Tillmaand (#1152) helped JCU to a runner-up effort at the 2009 OAC Cross Country Championships
The John Carroll Blue Streaks women's cross country finished second overall in the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday at Wilmington College, their best mark since a second place finish in 2005.
Final Results
The Streaks combination of youth and senior leadership was key to a strong finish in the OAC in 2009. In the Championships, JCU finished second with 72 points, with only Baldwin-Wallace College topping that total. the Yellow Jackets captured the top spot in the league with 37 total points.
Leading the way for the Carroll squad was freshman
Ashley Aberl, who finished the championship race in seventh place with a mark of 22:33.63.
Also placing inside the top-ten for the Streaks, with a time of 22:54.80 was senior Tricia Doherty.
By virtue of a top ten finish, both Aberl and Doherty earned first team All-OAC accolades.
Senior Emily Tillmaand
finished in 12th place at 23:15.55, earning honorable mention all-conference status. Teammates Christina Oles was 20th (23:41),
Megan Lutz -earned 24th place
(23:50) and
Shannon Testa took 26th to give JCU six runners in the top-30.
