FINAL RESULTS

For the second consecutive year, the Bowling Green State University track and field team has finished in 11th place at the Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships.

Over the course of the two day meet, the Falcons scored six points in the 17 events.  All of the points came in today's competition, divided equally among two sixth-place finishers.

After qualifying yesterday for the finals in the 60 meter dash by winning her preliminary heat, freshman Jeanette Pettigrew scored three points for the Falcons today by finishing sixth in the finals.  Pettigrew ran the event in a time of 7.65 seconds.  Eastern Michigan's ReJeana Marigna won the event.

The other points for the Orange and Brown came via senior Sabrina Forstein and the pole vault.  Forstein completed a vault of 11-11.75 to finish sixth.  This is the second consecutive year that Forstein has finished sixth at the MAC Championships; in fact, Forstein has scored points at the MAC Championships for the Falcons in three consecutive years.

Two other Falcon individuals recorded top-ten finishes in today's action.  Freshman Tatijana Jacobson recorded a personal (and season) best mark of 1.64 meters (5-04.50) in the high jump.  Jacobson's jump earned her a ninth-place finish.

Junior Autumn Dettmann also recorded a season-best mark on her way to a tenth-place finish in the mile run.  Today, Dettmann ran the mile in just 5:05.93 and finished less than 10 seconds behind the MAC champion in the event, Kelley Miller of Miami.

Brooke McCombs (shot put) and Andrea Pereira de Almeida (3000m run) each recorded top-20 finishes today.

In the 4x400 meter relay, the team of Jeanette Pettigrew, Felicia Jefferson, Allison Weimer and Heather Conger completed the run in 3:59.10 for a tenth place finish.

For the meet, Kent State won the MAC Indoor Championship with a final tally of 107 points.  KSU's Bill Lawson was named Coach of the Year, while the Golden Flashes' Diana Demitriscu was named Most Valuable Performer.

Toledo's Ari Fisher was named Most Outstanding Track Performer, and Central Michigan's Erika Schroll earned Most Outstanding Field Performer honors.

With the Kent State victory over BGSU, the Centennial Cup standings are once again tied.  Through 11 events, the Falcons and Golden Flashes each have 5.5 points.  Nine events remain in the competition, including the MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships from May 13-15.
