Lutz And Distance Relay Lead Charge For Blue Streaks At 2010 OAC Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships

Megan Lutz had a hand in both all-conference performances at the 2010 Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, held Friday and Saturday by Marietta College at the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center.

Results

Ohio Northern won the team title with 122 points, followed by Marietta (104) and Baldwin-Wallace (99). John Carroll tallied 24 points to place ninth.

Even if the Blue Streaks did not match last year's place (7th) or points (51), JCU had an many individuals earn points as 2009

Lutz was the top placer amongst the Streaks with her third place effort in the 1,000-meter run. After finishing eighth in the 800-meter final a year ago, Lutz picked up her first career All-OAC award. Kimberly Chinn of Baldwin-Wallace won the race in 3:03.11, followed by Christin Handley of Mount Union (3:04.57) and Lutz (3:05.92).

JCU's other all-conference effort came in the distance medley relay. Lutz teamed with Kelly Grieve, Maura Stepanski and Tricia Doherty to place third in 12:49.48, bested only by Baldwin-Wallace (12:18.30) and Ohio Northern (12:48.94).

Maureen Creighton had two top eights this weekend, placing sixth in the 55-meter dash final (7.58) and seventh in the 200-meter dash final (26.92).

Maribrth Keppler picked up an eighth-place finish in the 400-meter dash (1:03.10), as did Katie Skelly in the 500-meter run (1:25.28).

In the distances, Emily Tillmaand was sixth in the 3000-meter run (18:51.04), while Tricia Doherty was eighth in 5000-meter run (11:02.68).

Brittany Musa was the lone Streak to place in a field event, earning a tie for seventh in the high jump by clearing 4-9 3/4 (1.50 meters).
