Women place second and men take eighth at Cedarville Open

Stone sets school record in Javelin Throw

CEDARVILLE, Ohio — The Marietta College track and field program traveled to Cedarville University Saturday (March 27) to compete in its Collegiate Open, which was presented by the Ohio Army National Guard. The Pioneer women (133.50 points) finished runner-up to the host Yellow Jackets (136.50 points), while the Pioneer men collected 39 points to place eighth. [Women's Results] [Men's Results]

Marietta junior Nikki Stone (Madison, Madison) won the Javelin Throw with a school record toss of 37.52m (123-01). Stone's performance surpassed the previous record, which had stood since 1998, by nearly 10 feet. Sophomore Cara Nuss (Dayton, Carroll) placed eighth in the event with a mark of 26.70m (87-07).

Sophomore Ashley Bault (Atwater, Waterloo) had another big day. Bault won the Triple Jump with a mark of 10.91m (35-09.50), captured second in the Long Jump with a mark of 5.26m (17-03.25) and took fourth in the High Jump with a mark of 1.58m (5-02.25).

Senior Sidra Dhiraprasiddhi (Hilliard, Darby) placed runner-up in the Triple Jump with a leap of 10.22m (33-06.50) and took seventh in the Long Jump with a mark of 4.92m (16-01.75). Senior Sarita Dhiraprasiddhi (Hilliard, Darby) finished third in the Triple Jump with a mark of 10.11m (33-02.00) and was sixth in the Long Jump with a career-best performance of 4.92m (16-01.75).

Freshman Jacci Weaver (North Lima, South Range) placed fourth in the Shot Put with a mark of 11.40m (37-05.00) and then took fifth in the Discus Throw with a mark of 35.24m (115-07).

Junior Stephanie Hammond (Toledo, Central Catholic) finished sixth in the Hammer Throw with a personal record mark of 41.96m (137-08).

Sophomore Lauren Asbury (White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., Greenbrier East) also scored in three events. She took third in the 100m Hurdles, crossing the line in 16.20 seconds. Asbury then placed fourth in both the 100m Dash (12.88 seconds) and 200m Dash (27.17 seconds).

Sophomore Jessica Gebhart (Eaton, Eaton) took sixth in the 100m Hurdles with a time of 16.98 seconds, while senior Christi Tims (Olmsted Township, Olmsted Falls) placed sixth in the 200m Dash with a time 27.34 seconds.

Sophomore Corryn Muench (Cold Spring, Ky., Newport Central Catholic) captured runner-up honors in the 400m Hurdles after crossing the line in a personal record 1:07.58. She also took seventh in the 100m Dash with a time of 13.29 seconds, which was also another personal record.

Senior Stephanie Williams (Vincent, Warren Local) won the 3,000m Run after covering the distance in 12:28.98.

Junior Reba Leonard (Brookville, Brookville) finished fourth in the 5,000m Run by running a season's best time of 19:54.40. Senior Shannon McDonald (Lorain, Amherst Steele) (20:31.05) and junior Mehgan Cline (Dublin, Coffman) (20:37.09) finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the event.

Freshman Kristeva Rowe (Toledo, Sylvania Southview) placed fifth in the 400m Dash by running a time of 1:01.21.

Muench, Tims, sophomore Danielle Staub (Boxford, Mass., Masconomet Regional) and Rowe combined to close out the meet with a victory in the 4x400m Relay. The Pioneers beat the competition to the line with a time of 4:10.57.

Sophomore Mike Pankowski (Pittsburgh, Pa., Woodland Hills) won the Javelin Throw with a season's best toss of 53.84m (176-08).

Sophomore James Vogt (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) captured fourth in the Triple Jump with a mark of 12.39m (40-07.75).

Senior Derek Carpenter (Belpre, Belpre) placed eighth in the Hammer Throw with a mark of 44.08m (144-07).

Senior Chad Byers (New Matamoras, River) was fourth in the Discus Throw with a mark of 41.16m (135-00).

Sophomore Terrance Wallace (Westerville, Westerville Central) finished seventh in the 3,000m Steeplechase by running a time of 10:13.84.

Junior Matt Hickman (St. Mary's, W.Va., St. Mary's) took sixth in the 400m Dash by crossing the line in 50.97 seconds.

Marietta is back in action Saturday (April 3) when the Pioneers host five Ohio Athletic Conference schools in the OAC Gold Meet at Don Drumm Stadium. The schedule of events is slated to begin at 12 p.m.
