RK Glover (Wayzata, MN, Benilde-St. Margaret's Academy), the senior member of the jumpers group, had a runner-up showing in the triple jump by clearing 13.39 meters.

In fact, Glover was one of four point scorers in the triple jump. Kyle Fiegel (Akron, NY, Central) was fourth (12.95), Bryan Wideman placed sixth (12.84) and Stephen Kedzuf (Plymouth, MN, Benilde St. Margaret's)took seventh (12.24) as the Blue Streaks amassed 19 points alone in the triple.

The long jump featured a similar scenario, as Mike Minjock (Seven Hills, OH, St. Ignatius)'s runner-up effort of 6.97 meters led a 19-point scoring binge. Glover took third (6.75) and Wideman fourth (6.67) as part of an impressive showing in this event.

Michael Hlatky (Brooklyn Heights, OH, Cleveland St. Ignatius) also figured prominently in the mix. He placed second in the high jump with a mark of 1.93 meters.

JCU's success was not limited to the jumps. David Hickey (Stow, OH, Akron St. Vincent - St. Mary) produced John Carroll's lone victory when he captured first in the 400-meter hurdles (54.50). Two other Blue Streaks placed in the top eight as well, as Matt Szep (Westlake, OH, St. Ignatius) won his heat and placed fifth overall (57.83) and Mike Coughlin (Parma, OH, Holy Name) earned sixth (58.91).

In the shorter hurdles event, Dennis Love (Bedford, OH, St. Peter Chanel)placed fifth (16.11) and Hlatky finished eighth (16.71) covering 110 meters.

Wideman, who had success in the jumps, also scored with an eighth place finish in the 100-meter dash (11.64). Aaron Sharp (Dorset, OH, Jefferson Area) was sixth in the 800-meter run (1:59.30).

In the throwing events, Lou Galiano (Mayfield, OH, Mayfield) fared well by placing fourth (14.47 meters) in the shot put. Matt Najdovski continued his improvement with a third place effort in the javelin (48.36), while teammate Steven Borowy (Garfield Hts., OH, Trinity) was fifth (45.03) in the same event. For good measure, Borowy also finished sixth in the discus (42.40).
