Sun, Apr, 18 | Women's Track and Field

FINAL RESULTS

On the second day of the All-Ohio Championships, eight personal records were set and 31 points were scored in 13 events, as the Bowling Green State University track and field team fought their way to a solid ninth place finish in a crowded 16-team field.

Freshman Tatijana Jacobson produced the Orange and Brown's top finish of the day.  Jacobson set a personal record and placed second in the high jump with a mark of 5-7.00.  Her jump matched that of Akron's Alina Bocicor, who won the event.  The second place finish netted eight points for the Falcons.  Jacobson is sixth on the team with 24 points scored thus far during the outdoor season.

More points were scored in the track events.  Fellow freshman Jeanette Pettigrew placed third in the 100 meter dash and earned six points for Bowling Green.  She completed the run in 12.24, less than a half-second behind the event winner.

In the 1500 meter run, Falcon junior Autumn Dettmann set a personal record and scored five points with a fourth place finish in 4:37.63.

Two other Bowling Green runners earned personal records in the 1500 meter event:  Ashley Fischer placed 11th and completed the run in 4:48.61, while junior Carly Wells' time of 4:56.99 earned 18th place.  Freshman Katie Borgelt also competed in this run, posting a mark of 4:53.30.

Both Falcon relay teams scored points, combining for a total of nine on the day.  In the 4x100 meter relay, Brittani McNeal, Jeanette Pettigrew, Felicia Jefferson and Jessica Grant earned fourth place in 47.67 seconds.  McNeal also ran the 4x400 relay; along with Heather Conger, Saisha Gaillard and Allison Weimer, the team completed the race in 4:01.02 and placed fifth.

For the day, McNeal helped the Falcons score ten of their 31 points.  The tenth point came in the 200 meter dash, as she finished eighth in a time of 25.68.  McNeal has accounted for the third most points (30.50) among all BGSU athletes during the outdoor campaign.

After placing third in the 100 meters, Jeanette Pettigrew returned to earn a personal record time of 25.80 in the 200 meters.

Bowling Green's final points of the day were scored by junior Barbara Powers.  Powers' personal record of 11:09.65 in the 3000 meter steeplechase secured seventh place and two points.

Two other Falcons set personal records in Saturday's events.  Sophomore Saisha Gaillard ran the 400 meters in 1:01.53, while fellow sophomore Ashley Harris had a toss of 130-5 in the discus.  Senior Sabrina Forstein recorded BGSU's other top-ten finish, earning tenth place in the pole vault.

Bowling Green will return to action next weekend at the Hillsdale Relays in Hillsdale, Mich.  The two day event will be held on Friday, April 23rd and Saturday, April 24th.
