Toledo Invitational Final Results

Jesse Owens Track Classic Day One Results

The Bowling Green State University track and field team continued action on two fronts on Friday, as the Falcons competed in both the Toledo Invitational and the 25th annual Jesse Owens Track Classic.

The final day of action in Toledo saw BGSU athletes compete in seven events.  In those seven events, the Falcons recorded five top-five finishes and six other top-tens.

The top competitor of the day for the Orange and Brown was freshman Brooke McCombs, who placed second in the shot put.  McCombs' mark of 42-00.75 (12.82m) established a new personal record.

Ashley Harris finished immediately behind McCombs in the shot put.  Her score of 41-10.75 (12.77m) was a season high and earned third place in the event.  Harris also competed in the discus throw, and she completed a toss of 128-03 (39.10m) for seventh place.

Freshman Katie Borgelt also recorded a third place finish with a time of 4:52.77 in the 1500 meters.  Borgelt crossed the finish line seven seconds behind the leader, but she was tops among four Falcons in the event.

Carly Wells, Courtney Krummert and Alixe Korsnack each also recorded top-tens in the 1500 meters.  Wells ran the course in 4:56.09 for sixth place.  Krummert took home eighth place after running the 1500 in 5:07.49.  A time of 5:13.71 earned Korsnack tenth place.

Krummert and Wells competed in the 800 meters, as well.  They finished 11th and 12th, respectively, within one second of each other.

Another up-and-coming freshman, Mindy Henry, took fourth place in the 800m by running the course in 2:21.71.

Junior Rachael Doughty also earned a top-five finish by placing fourth in the 100 meter hurdles.  Doughty recorded a time of 15.36 seconds.

In the 400 meters, two Falcons secured top-ten finishes.  Danielle Thornton placed seventh with a time of 1:00.93, while Paige Lane established a career best in the event by running the 400 meters in 1:01.38.  Hillary Hewit recorded a time of 1:04.08.

Taylor Stichter rounded out the action for the Falcons by earning 11th place in the 5000 meters (20:38.64).

At the Jesse Owens Track Classic, BGSU competed in four of the day's events, facing opponents from across the East, including several MAC and Big Ten opponents.

Barbara Powers, who already had one of the MAC's top times of the 2010 outdoor season in the steeplechase, added to her accomplishments on Friday.  Powers again ran a top-15 MAC time in the steeplechase, this time finishing in 11:18.32.

Like Powers, Ashley Fischer is already on the MAC leaderboard for the 5000 meters.  And, like Powers, Fischer added another time to that list on Friday.  Fischer completed Friday's 5000 meter run in 18:06.79.  The time was good enough for 15th place, BGSU's top spot of the day.

Abby Koch (19:26.91) and Megan Kelsey (20:10.45) also competed in the 5000 meters.

Autumn Dettmann placed in the top half of the field in the 1500 meters.  Her time of 4:40.61 secured 21st place out of 49 runners.

The day's action concluded with Kristin Boettcher in the hammer throw.  Boettcher's toss of 162-07 (49.56m) placed 29th.

The Jesse Owens Track Classic will conclude on Saturday, and Bowling Green will participate in seven events.  The list of BGSU competitors is below.
