Autumn Dettmann set a personal career record in the 1500 meters and the 4x100m relay team finished sixth out of 11 teams on the third and final day of the 2010 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships in Buffalo, N.Y.

However, finding points proved to be difficult as the Championships drew to a close, and the Bowling Green State University track and field team concluded the 2010 season by finishing 12th.

The sixth place finish by the 4x100 meter relay team of Brittani McNeal, Jeanette Pettigrew, Felicia Jefferson and Jessica Grant was BGSU's best of the day.  The race was extremely close -- each of the top seven teams finished within two seconds of each other, and only one second separated places three through seven.  Bowling Green registered a time of 47.23 seconds and earned three points for the team in the process.

In the 1500 meters, junior Autumn Dettmann completed her run in 4:36.34 and, by over one second, broke her previous personal record, which she set earlier in the 2010 season.  Dettmann placed seventh to earn two points for her Falcon teammates.  This race was also relatively close; Dettmann finished less than four seconds out of the top three and only six seconds behind the event winner.

The Orange and Brown's only other point of the day came in the 800 meter run.  Junior Heather Conger in 2:15.63, earning eighth place and one team point for the Falcons.

Three Falcons competed in the 5000 meter run, and sophomore Ashley Fischer placed highest of the group.  Fischer set a season-best time by crossing the finish line in 17:45.94, taking 14th place in the process.

Autumn Dettmann (18:26.12) and freshman Abby Koch (18:38.93) also participated in the event.

BGSU's other entry into the day's track events was in the 4x400 meter relay.  The 4x400 team beat rival Toledo but finished 11th overall.  Felicia Jefferson, Heather Conger, Saisha Gaillard and Allison Weimer ran the course in 3:57.61.

In the field events, the Falcons earned two top-ten finishes.

Senior Sabrina Forstein closed out her Falcon career with her best jump of the outdoor season, and one of the best of her career, in the pole vault.  Forstein claimed ninth place with a mark of 11-11.75 (3.65m.

Meanwhile, the BGSU career of freshman Tatijana Jacobson is just getting started, and her first appearance at the MAC Championships resulted in a tenth place finish in the high jump.  Jacobson's leap of 5-03.00 was less than a half-foot shy of the eventual winner.

Brooke McCombs and Ashley Harris rounded out the day's action for the Falcons at the discus throw.  Each took home finishes in the top 15 of the event.  McCombs placed 12th with a toss of 138-03 (42.13m), while Harris set a personal season-best mark of 131-02 (39.97m) and placed 15th.

As a team, Bowling Green scored nine points and finished 12th at this year's championship meet.  The Falcons were ten points behind Northern Illinois, who placed 11th.

Kent State earned a MAC championship with 142 points, while Akron and Western Michigan rounded out the top three.
