Audra Brown: Bugs, Sulfur Water and Team Bonding

Audra Brown: Bugs, Sulfur Water and Team Bonding

Hi!  My name is Audra Brown and I am a senior on the UT Women's Cross Country and Track teams.  I am super excited to head into my last year of competing in collegiate athletics and even more excited that I get to give you a little piece of insight into our program!

On the Thursday before school started, all of the women and men of the cross country teams piled into a bus and headed down to Mohican State Park for a three day camp.  Lukewarm showers;  Bugs;  Thin mattresses;  Sulfur water;  And not to mention, a TON of fun.  Along with some intense running and workouts, there was cornhole, card games and a lot of team bonding.  Camp is a great way to get to know our new teammates, re-bond with returners, and get everyone on the same page heading into our cross country season.

There have been improvements everywhere and each practice brings more and more excitement to get the season officially started.  Our first meet will be a dual meet with Bowling Green State University, where our underclassmen will get to showcase how hard they've worked over the summer.  The Rocket blast off will be held Friday, Sept. 3, at 4 p.m.  This meet will be the first step and an integral part of what we want to accomplish as a team this season.  We've got our goals set out for us and are super motivated to do everything right to see them come to fruition; one very high on the list would be to take a MAC Championship trophy home to Toledo this year!  Stay tuned to see how things shake out!  Go Rockets!

Audra is a senior co-captian for cross country and is majoring in speech language pathology.
