With an impressive show of team strength, the John Carroll Blue Streaks successfully defended their title at the Ric Sayre Invitational Saturday at Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio.
The 2009 champs won the 2010 event with a team score of 28 points, well ahead of runner-up Mount Union with 56. Host Walsh scored 96, followed by Ursuline (113), Mt. Vernon Nazarene (130), Roberts Wesleyan (150), Cuyahoga Community College (165), and Hiram (243).

The Blue Streaks cause was aided with three of the top four finishers in the individual standings.
Freshman Anna Busta became a collegiate medalist for the first time. Her time of 19:12.36 was a full seven seconds ahead of Mount Union's Chelsey Bruce.
Crossing the finishing line in third and fourth place were JCU sophomore Ashley Aberl (19:21.00) and senior Kelly Grieve (19;21.44).
Putting the finishing touches on the title were Megan Lutz in seventh place (19:47.31) and Katherine Spillman in 13th (20:13.55).
The 2010 Sayre title marks John Carroll's fourth meet victory in the last two seasons. The Blue Streaks also won the Sayre, the Cathcart and the Wilmington meets in 2009.
