The men's cross country team at Bowling Green State University completed the 2010 Falcon Invitational in seventh place and finished third out of the seven participating Division I teams during the action Saturday (Oct. 16) at the Forest Creason golf course next to the BGSU campus.

The results show a marked improvement from the 2009 edition of the event, where the Falcons placed only 11th and had only three runners finish in the top 75.

In today's action, the team placed three runners in the top 50, led by Chris Moody's 28th place finish.  Four others finished 86th or better in the field of 194 athletes.

Moody, in his final home meet with the Falcons, earned a time of 25:44.5 in his 8K and improved by eight places and 13 seconds over his numbers from last year's event.

Sophomore Jason Salyer approached his personal best time in the 8K by completing his run just three seconds after Moody.  His time of 25:47.0 resulted in a 32nd place finish.

Rob Kelvey and Greg Black each achieved personal best times on Saturday.  Kelvey earned a 40th place finish by running the course in 26:11.0, while Black crossed the finish line in 26:47.2 for 59th place.

Senior Jesse Smuda completed his last Forest Creason race in 26:50.2, placing 60th overall.

Three other Falcons -- Luke Zerkle, Josh Franek and Jeff Ehler -- each ran the 8K in under 28 minutes.  Also running for Bowling Green on Saturday were Perry Fraylick, Abraham Busienei, Ian Zimmerman, Brian Ferber and Joe van Bolderen

The next meet for the Orange and Brown is two weeks from Saturday, on October 30th, when the team travels to Kalamazoo, Mich. for the 2010 Mid-American Conference Championships.
