Falcons Return To Competition At Prestigious Meyo Invitational

Thu, Feb, 03 | Women's Track and Field

The Bowling Green State University track and field team returns to action this weekend as they travel to South Bend, Ind. for the 2011 Meyo Invitational.

The two-day meet, held on Friday (Feb. 4) and Saturday (Feb. 5), combines men's and women's events and includes one of the largest and successful groups of competing teams in the country.

Among the women's teams Bowling Green will face at the meet are eight Mid-American Conference schools - Ball State, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Miami, Ohio, Toledo and Western Michigan.

Also competing will be nationally-ranked teams in Indiana, Louisville and Penn State, who are ranked 20th, 23rd and 25th respectively in this week's edition of the USTFCCCA computer rankings (released Feb. 1).

The field further includes several other Big Ten schools (Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, and Purdue) and two from the Southeastern Conference (Alabama, Vanderbilt).

The Falcons will face events including the long jump, high jump and weight throw on Friday, followed by the shot put on Saturday.  Track events on Friday include the 5,000m run, the distance medley relay, and the preliminary runs for the 60m dash and 60m hurdles.

The full schedule of events can be obtained HERE.

Results will be available after the conclusion of the events on both days.

Also, four Falcon athletes will travel on Friday to participate in the University of Findlay Open.  Those results will also be reported once the events are complete.
