MEET RESULTS (.pdf)

On Saturday afternoon, Jeanette Pettigrew came within an eyelash of setting a Falcons' indoor record as the Bowling Green State University track and field team completed competition at the 2011 Meyo Invitational.

Pettigrew, who qualified fifth in the preliminary race on the first day of the two-day meet in South Bend, Ind., took fourth place in Saturday's finals of the 60 meter dash. Her career-best run of 7.52 seconds placed her just one one-hundredth of a second shy of the record Jessica White set (7.51) in 2007.

The run by Pettigrew was the highlight of the second day of the meet, which featured several Big Ten, Southeastern and Big East Conference schools but does not include team scoring.

Later, Pettigrew competed in the 200 meter dash and placed fourth. She registered a time of 24.959 seconds. The time was measured to the thousandth of a second because the third-place runner finished with virtually the same time (24.952).

In the 800 meter run, Heather Conger placed in the top half of a 65-runner field after completing the distance in 2:16.58; the time earned 27th place.

Senior Autumn Dettmann ran the mile for the Falcons and picked up a 23rd place finish with a time of 5:07.17. Fellow senior Barbara Powers, as well as Nicole Farr, also competed in distance runs. Powers and Farr ran the 3000 meters, finishing with times of 10:09.45 and 10:23.62, respectively. Powers' time catapulted her to 11th place.

Bowling Green's 4x400 meter relay team, consisting of Jeanette Pettigrew, Brittani McNeal, Felicia Jefferson and Heather Conger, ran the distance in 3:53.02 for 17th among 26 competing teams.

Falcon athletes competed in one field event on the second day of the meet. Ashley Harris earned a top-ten finish in the shot put by completing a toss of 14.60 meters. Jessie Rowland placed in the top 20 after a 12.66 meter toss.

The Orange and Brown contingent will return to competition next weekend when they travel to Akron, Ohio for the Akron Invitational. The team will then look forward to the 2011 Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships, which the Falcons host on Feb. 25 and 26.
