Mon, Feb, 14 | General, Men's Basketball, Women's Track and Field

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Papa John's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are men's basketball player A'uston Calhoun and women's track and field athlete Jeanette Pettigrew.

Male Athlete of the Week
A'uston Calhoun, a redshirt sophomore from Southfield, Mich., averaged 15.0 points and 6.5 rebounds while shooting 50 percent from the field as the BGSU men's basketball team went 1-1 to stay in the hunt for a MAC Championship. Calhoun took over late and had 15 points, seven rebounds, and a blocked shot in the team's win over Ball State. He followed that up with 15 points, six rebounds and two blocked shots at Central Michigan Saturday.

Female Athlete of the Week
Jeanette Pettigrew, a sophomore from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, established a new BGSU record in the 60m dash at the 2011 Akron Invitational on Saturday. Pettigrew placed second overall and sprinted to the finish in 7.47 seconds, breaking the previous record of 7.51 seconds which was set in 2007. Her record-setting time ranks second in the Mid-American Conference for the season to date. Pettigrew also set a personal record in the 200m dash with a time of 24.91 seconds and helped BGSU to a fifth-place finish in the 4x400m relay.
