On Saturday (Feb. 19), several members of the Bowling Green State University track and field squad traveled to Ann Arbor, Mich. for the Silverston Invitatioinal.  The meet served as the athletes' last chance to prepare for the 2011 Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships, which begin on Friday.

The Falcons' top finisher was Allison Weimer, who placed third in the 600 meter run.  Weimer completed the run in 1:38.46.

Nicole Farr matched Weimer's third place finish when she completed the 800 meter run in 2:19.20.  Three other Bowling Green athletes competed in that race, including senior Carly Wells, whose run of 2:20.14 placed fourth.

Saisha Gailliard (2:23.14) placed sixth, while Courtney Krummert earned eight place with a mark of 2:23.31.

Freshman Erika Schmidt competed in the day's two sprint races.  Her time of 26.03 seconds allowed her to place fifth in the 200 meter dash.  Schmidt then ran the 60 meter dash in 7.94 seconds and finished seventh.

Ashley Fischer had distance run duties on Saturday for BGSU, and she placed sixth in her section of the mile run, doing so in 5:20.87.

Rounding out the day for the Falcons was Ariel Edwards.  She was BGSU's lone competitor in field events at the Michigan meet, and she took eighth place in the high jump with a leap of 1.55 meters.

Bowling Green's next action will be at the 2011 MAC Indoor Championships.  The Falcons host the championship meet on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 25-26), and action begins at Perry Field House at 10:00 a.m. on Friday morning.
