Falcons Sign Five For 2011 Season

Bowling Green State University men's  cross country head coach Cami Paulson and her staff are proud to welcome five new student-athletes to the Falcon family for the 2011 season.

The signees are:
Tyler Addis (Monroe, Mich./Monroe)
Kevin Budge (Bowling Green, Ohio /Bowling Green)
Thomas Hipwell (Parma, Ohio/Parma)
Nolan McCue (Aurora, Ill./Aurora Central Catholic)
Zachary Shilt (Covington, Ohio/Covington)

Paulson said, “I am very pleased to welcome Tyler, Kevin, Tom, Nolan and Zachary to the program. These young men will add depth to the team as we continue to strive for greater heights in the future.”
 
Tyler Addis – Monroe, Mich. / Monroe
High school:
Earned letters in cross country, track and swimming for the Trojans of Monroe High School … completed personal-best times of 16:45 in the 5K, 4:44 in the 1600m and 10:30 in the 3000m … named All-Region in cross country in 2010 … named most improved runner in 2009 … member of National Honor Society … served as captain for both cross country and track teams.
 
Paulson said, “Tyler has a great attitude and potential to be a contributor to the team this fall. I look forward to having Tyler join the team.”

Kevin Budge – Bowling Green, Ohio / Bowling Green
High school:
Four-year letter winner in cross country … also lettered in track and field … owns personal record of 16:18 in the 5K … his teams at Bowling Green High School finished third in the Northern Lakes League in both his junior and senior seasons … named first-team All-NLL in senior season … named second-team All-NLL in sophomore and junior years … three-time captain in cross country.
 
“Kevin has excellent potential to excel at the college level,” Paulson said. “Kevin has had a very successful career at Bowling Green High School and I am thrilled that he has decided to continue his career here at BGSU.”

Thomas Hipwell – Parma, Ohio / Parma
High school:
  Competed in both track and cross country for Parma High School … named Northeast Ohio Conference Most Valuable Player in 2010 … regional qualifier in 2008, 2009 and 2010 … from 2008 to 2010, cross country team improved from fifth to second to conference champions … team finished third in conference in track during 2008 and 2010 seasons … served as cross country team captain in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
 
Paulson said, “Tom will add depth to the team and has the potential to compete successfully at the college level and to be a contributor his freshman year.”

Nolan McCue – Aurora, Ill. / Aurora Central Catholic
High school:
 Lettered in both cross country and track … 2010 Illinois state qualifier in 4x800 and 4x400 relays … placed sixth in 800m run in the Suburban Christian Conference (SCC) during 2010 … cross country team qualified for IHSA state finals in each of his four seasons … team went 60-11 in dual and triangular meets … placed in top three of SCC in each of his four years … in track, team placed in top three (out of 13) in the SCC finals in each of his four years … team finished as SCC runner-up (by one point) in 2010 … team won 2007 Class 1A sectional team championship … served as captain on both cross country and track teams (2010-11).
 
Paulson said, “Nolan has consistently improved throughout his high school career, and he is ready to take on the challenge of collegiate running this fall.”

Zachary Shilt – Covington, Ohio / Covington
High school: Earned four letters in cross country, as well as a letter in track … cross country team qualified for regionals in each of his four years on the team … participated in Cross County Conference (CCC) championship team … named All-CCC in 2010 after conference championship meet.
 
Paulson said, “Zach has the potential to be a contributor on the team this fall. He has good potential to continue to improve.”

The Falcons' cross country team featured five athletes in the final year of their collegiate career during the 2010 season – seniors Abraham Buseinei, Jeff Ehler, Chris Moody and Jesse Smuda, as well as graduate student Rob Kelvey.
