USTFCCCA Official Release

NEW ORLEANS, La -- On Thursday afternoon (Aug. 11), the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its 2011 Scholar Teams of the Year and All-Academic Team list.  For the fifth consecutive year, the Bowling Green State University track and field team was honored for academic success.

To become an All-Academic Team, a program must compile a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above.  The 2011 Falcons earned a GPA of 3.21 to secure its place among the 164 teams honored this year.

Overall, Bowling Green placed 102nd in the country and fourth out of the six Mid-American Conference teams on the list.

During the 2011 indoor track and field season, four Falcons earned spots on the Academic All-MAC team.  Two members of the team were named Academic All-MAC after the outdoor season.  One of those was outgoing senior Barbara Powers, who was also honored by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) when she was named to CoSIDA's Academic All-District IV Second Team.
