MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Bowling Green State University men's and women's cross country teams competed in their final 2011 regular season event on Saturday (Oct. 29) at the Mid-American Conference Championships.

At Muncie, Ind.'s Elks Country Club, the men's team placed ninth in the championship 8,000-meter (8K) race.  Jason Salyer led the team with a 26th-place finish and a time of 25:12.4.  Freshman Kevin Budge placed 57th (53rd among scorers) and completed the distance in 25:51.3.

Eastern Michigan won the team championship for the second consecutive year, while Central Michigan's Tecumseh Adams won the individual crown.

The women's team ended the season with a 12th-place finish.  Alixe Korsnack was the Falcons' top runner as she concluded the 6,000-meter (6K) run in 24:26.3.

The team championship went to Toledo.  Like EMU, the Rockets won for the second straight year.  Juli Accurso of Ohio University was the individual winner.

Head coach Lou Snelling said, "We had a few indiivdual bright spots.  Jason set himself up for next year to have a legitimate shot at being all-conference, and both Kevin and Josh had nice personal records.  Team-wise, these are the results we expected, particularly with the mass-redshirting on the women's side.  We are all hungry for and look forward to the improvement in conference results we will make over the next several years."

The Falcons compete once more this year.  That meet, the NCAA Great Lakes Regional, will take place on Saturday, Nov. 12 in Toledo, Ohio.
