Fast times, new state leaders and US top 10 performances were all over the Ohio High School Indoor Track and Field scene this past weekend. Ohio State, Akron, Findlay and Marietta all provided exciting meets and terrific marks for this early in the season.

Cedarville, a notoriously long meet, wrapped up quite early on Saturday, but still provided many fast times and good marks. Good sprints, a strong distance field, and many great marks in the field events provided for a memorable meet.

The OATCCC, for the second time in two years, has added an event to the OATCCC State Indoor Track and Field Championship. Following the success of the addition of the weight throw last year, the state has decided to add the triple jump to the list of events to be contested at the Indoor State meet.

The opening meet of the 2009 Ohio High School Track and Field Season opened up with two very impressive performances in the field events. Senior Erik Kynard (Rogers) recorded a US-leading high jump of 7'2.5", adding to his field house record from last year by an inch. In the Weight Throw, junior Justin Welch (Eastwood) threw the US #2 mark in the 25lbs. Weight Throw with a heave of 70'11.75".
