Many athletes with ties to Ohio will be out in Oregon this weekend to compete in the USATF National Championship and the USATF Jr. National Championship. We'll take a look at how the Ohians fared at the meet.

The Gatorade Player of the Year program annually recognizes one winner in the District of Columbia and each of the 50 states that sanction high school football, girls volleyball, boys and girls cross country, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer, baseball, softball, and boys and girls track & field. The selection process is administered by ESPN RISE magazine, which works with top sport-specific experts and a media advisory board of accomplished, veteran prep sports journalists to determine the state winners in each sport.

Curtis Beach, the decathlon wunderkind from New Mexico, goes for another decathlon record when the U.S. Juniors Championships open on Thursday morning at the University of Oregon in Eugene.

Ohio put on another good showing at the Nike Outdoor National Meet in Greensboro, North Carolina this weekend. Above: Zach Wills of Mason finished second in the 2 Mile in a time of 8:55.18.

Ohio fared well at the Midwest Meet of Champions on Saturday June, 13 in Jackson, Michigan. Ohio girls won, while the boys placed second, which was good enough for the overall title. See Other Ohio Performances from the first week of the track post season.

Start List for the 2009 Midwest Distance Gala being run in Lisle, Illinois on Saturday.

Version 5.0 of the Midwest Distance Gala is taking place this weekend on the campus of Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois. This year’s version looks to be bigger and better than last year’s version and shows that this meet, which started with just 37 finishers the first year, is growing quickly and the quality of the fields assembled is unbelieveable. This year there are storylines by the dozen and the main one looks to be a match-up that has been building since last cross-country season.
