AJ Hicks, a senior form Solon High School, has decided to continue his education and track and field career at the University of North Carolina in Chappel Hill, North Carolina.

In its 26th year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, The Gatorade Company, in collaboration with ESPN RISE, today announced Michael Brajdic of Bay High School as its 2010-11 Gatorade Ohio Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year. Brajdic is the first Gatorade Ohio Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year to be chosen from Bay High School.

While this doesn't impact Cross Country and Track and Field immediately if the issue passes, Consideration will be given to add other sports in the future.

Quincy Downing, a senior from Glenville Academic Campus, has chosen to continue his education and track and field career at Louisianna State University in Baton Rouge, Louisianna.

While this proposed change would not have an effect on Track and Field or Cross Country right away, the two sports may be effected by it in the future.

In a re-affirmation of its longstanding opposition to national championships in high school sports, the membership of the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) defeated a proposed amendment to the NFHS Bylaws that would have allowed the NFHS to conduct national championships in golf and cross country.
