    CINCINNATI -- Bill Schnier was inducted into Cincinnati's James P. Kelly Athletics Hall of Fame on Tuesday. If he was nervous upon his induction, the University of Cincinnati cross country and track and field head coach of 33 years  likely wasn't as nervous as he was in September when he announced his retirement to his team at the end of their annual cross-country camp.   • 2012 OHSAA State Cross Country Championship Preview

    Three individuals and five teams return to defend their titles at the Dragstrip.  With the outskirts of Hurricane Sandy sending rain and snow into Ohio throughout the week, we could be in for a sloppy and muddy course this year.  Last year the course ran really fast, maybe this year it will be less of a race track and more of a test of strength at National Trails Raceway during the OHSAA State Cross Country Championship.

  • Kris Mack Named Next Men's Track and Field Head Coach

    CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati director of athletics Whit Babcock announced today that men's track and field assistant coach Kris Mack will succeed Bill Schnier as head coach. "We are very pleased to name Kris Mack as our next head coach and to ensure the continuity of our program and our recruiting efforts," said Babcock. (via www.gobearcats.com)

  • Seneca East senior to compete in Australian track competition

    ATTICA - Kevin Moore, 17, a senior at Seneca East High School, has been chosen to compete in the Down Under West Central Conference Track and Field competition. The competition is set to take place in July in Australia, where he will be competing in the 110-meter hurdles. The only catch is, Kevin has to raise $4,700 to secure his trip.   • Kent Ford: Never Running Alone

    Kent Ford is Westeville North's # 2 runner, just behind their #1 runner, Jacob Dumford.  Kent has vastly improved from his Junior year and with his experience has helped to propel the Westerville North team to the #5 spot inthe OATCCC poll.  This week is Districts and they are the strong favorite to win their District.  Kent is ranked 4th in the State at this time, running a 15:21.06 in last weeks Cardinal Div. OCC Conference Championship, just behind Dumford who is ranked second in the State with a 15:15.27.  They are arguable the best one-two runners in the State and just may lead their Westerville North team to the podium in a few weeks.  We spoke to Kent about his background, as well as the improvement he has seen from last year to this year and he and his teams expectations for the remainder of the XC season.

  • Getting Better Every Race: Mary Kate Vaughn

    Oakwood's sensational freshman, Mary Kate Vaughn, has a State leading XC time of 17:37.00.  She is hard working and confident.  She is undefeated thus far this season in D2 and in cross-divisional races.  Her goal for the remainder of this XC season is to stay healthy and to lead her team to qualify for the state meet.  She wants to continue to run sub-18:00  times and to contend for the State D2 title.  As she continues to gain exprience, she may not only contend for the title in Novmember, but she just may be the one to beat.

  • North Royalton High School crowns its 2012 Homecoming King and Queen

    NORTH ROYALTON: North Royalton High School crowned its 2012 Homecoming King and Queen before Friday night's football game at Serpentini Chevrolet Stadium. Ryan Maloney was named king and Anna Jaimes was named queen from a homecoming court of 10 candidates. The new royalty was crowned by last year's winners, Eric Barfell and Alexandra Tuma.(via Sun News - cleveland.com)
