  • Jacob Dumford Chooses Notre Dame

    Westerville North senior, Jacob Dumford, has decided to attend the University of Notre Dame to continue his academic and athletic pursuits.  Dumford has two State Meet Runner-Up finishes under his belt as well as third place.  Dumford earned the bronze medal in the 2011 State Track and Field Championship in the 800m Run and followed it up the next year by finishing in second place in the same event.  Dumford also finished as the Runner-Up at the 2012 State Cross Country Champinoship.

  • Cory Glines Says Go Blue

    Cory Glines, a senior at St. Thomas Aquinas, has committed to the University of Michigan to continue his academic and athletic career.  Glines is the defending Division 3 State Champion, and current Division 3 State Meet Record Holder in the 1600m run.  Glines was also the runner up at the 2012 Division 3 State Cross Country Meet where he crossed the line in 15:20.66 to set his personal best time in a 5K.

  • Tourney travel money banned for Ohio high school athletes - Nike Interview Added

     The Ohio High School Athletic Association ruled Tuesday that Ohio athletes may not accept travel, hotel and meal expenditures from out-of-season competitions if those athletes wish to maintain their amateur status.(via news.cincinnati.com)

  • Sydney Leiher To Syracuse

    Beavercreek High School senior, Sydney Leiher, has chosen to continue her academic and athletic career at Syracuse University.  Leiher is the defending Division 1 Champion in the 1600m Run.  Leiher also placed fourth in the 2000m Steeplechase at the 2012 New Balance Outdoor National Meet.

  • North College Hill's Lamar Hargrove Commits to Tiffin

    Lamar Hargrove, a senior at North College Hill, has chosen to continue is academic and athletic career at Tiffin University.  Hargrove is the defending Division 2 Champion in both the 100m Dash and the 200m Dash.

  • USA Track & Field 2012 Fan's Choice Awards - Ohioans Erik Kynard and Meghan Vogel among Nominees

    Voting begins today for USA Track & Field’s first ever Fan’s Choice Awards, which will be a part of the Jesse Owens Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony presented by Nike on Saturday, December 1, held in conjunction with the USATF Annual Meeting.   • Beavercreek to Host Reserve Team Cross Country Championship in 2013

    Beavercreek High School, near Dayton, Ohio, will host the first ever Reserve Team Championship for Cross Country during the 2013 season.  The meet will be held on October 5, 2013, one week prior to the Conference Weekend.  If you are interested in participating in this meet, please contact James Weckesser at james.weckesser@ beavercreek.k12.oh.us

    Besides state cross country champion, Versailles running standout Sam Prakel has another title: Wendy’s High School Heisman national finalist.   • The 2012 Ohio State Cross Country Championships - Our Winners!

    The 2012 State Cross Country Championships saw only one repeat individual Champion.  Senior Sam Prakel of Versailles defended his title and bested his 2011 D3 record time by 2.72 seconds, in running 15:16.34.  Two other National Trails records were set.  Senior Sam Wharton of Tippacanoe established a new D1 Boys and National Trails record running 15:09.95.  Lebanon Junior Jacqulyn Crow set a new D1 Girl's and National Trails record, running 17:39.31.  The previous record was set in the girl's D2 race by Freshman Mary Kate Vaughn of Oakwood.  Vaughn ran 17:41.57.  Two teams repeated.  Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary repeated as the D2 girl’s champion and Liberty Center repeated as the D3 girl’s champion.

    HEBRON —Steps before crossing the finish line, the smile started to spread across Lebanon senior Jacquelyn Crow’s face as she crossed into Warrior history. Crow out-dueled and out-gutted Sylvania Northview’s Janelle Noe to claim the Division I state cross country championship Saturday at National Trail Raceway in 17:39.31. Noe finished in 17:40.88.   • State cross country: Unioto sophomore Harkins breaks school mark

    HEBRON — It wasn’t quite the storybook ending Unioto was dreaming of — at least until Kinkela Harkins finished her race. After Unioto’s boys finished eighth as a team in the Division II state cross country meet at National Trail Raceway, Harkins, a sophomore in her first season in the sport, sprinted home with a 24th-place finish in the Division II girls race, breaking the school record with a 19:08 and grabbing a spot on the All-Ohio team.  (via www.chillicothegazette.com)

    Mason cross country coach Chip Dobson had a conversation with senior Lauren Wood over the summer. For the past four years Dobson’s team had Monica Lake as its leader on the course and off of it but Lake graduated last spring and moved on to Oklahoma State University. (via masonbuzz.com)
