The Mason Invite, presented by Buckeye Running Company is shaping up to be an epic event. The meet will feature the top teams from Ohio and Indiana on the girls and boys sides. Also present are amazing individuals and some of the top D2 teams in the state as well.

Wesley Frazier (NC) left little doubt as to who the best runner in the country is after the 2011 outdoor track season. The Ravenscroft harrier created her own form of history at the 2011 NBON meet by winning two events and finished an impressive third in another. Frazier won the 5000 meter run with a sophomore record of 16:24.83 after taking control of the race late. She then came back in the 2 mile and finished third with an impressive 10:10.86 clocking. She could have stopped right there and cemented her legacy as a super-soph, but Frazier was also entered in the mile.

American Fork won their annual relay with the 2nd fastest all-time team clocking. Grace Tinkey (GA) smokes a 17:55 5k at the Mercy Invite while Allie Ostrander (AK) goes sub-18 at the Skyline Invite.

October starts with a bang in Ohio this weekend as the 5th running of the Midwest Meet of Champions takes place in Hilliard, Ohio. Zach Wills (Mason, OH) will look to make this a three-peat on the boys' side, while Emma Brink (Sacred Heart, KY) and Waverly Neer (Culver Academies, IN) headline the girls' race.

The 2010 Midwest Meet of Champions is loaded with many of the top teams and individuals throughout Ohio and surrounding states! Each of the past 2 years the team champions at the MMOC have gone on to win big school state titles. Magnificat and St Ignatius won titles in 2009 and are back this year to challenge for the title. The MMOC course is flat and very spectator friendly and we could see some blazing times on October 2nd at Hilliard Darby High School!

A great night for track and field was noticed by all at the 13th annual Wayne Invitational, held at Good Samaritan Athletic Fields at Heidkamp stadium. When it was all said and done, over 87 National elite marks were set, including a new state record in the boys hammer throw, as well as a new Division 2 girls long jump record. 8 meet records were set, as well as established marks for two new events in the hammer throw and triple jump.

Version 5.0 of the Midwest Distance Gala is taking place this weekend on the campus of Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois. This year’s version looks to be bigger and better than last year’s version and shows that this meet, which started with just 37 finishers the first year, is growing quickly and the quality of the fields assembled is unbelieveable. This year there are storylines by the dozen and the main one looks to be a match-up that has been building since last cross-country season.
