(The virtual meets do not include individual qualifiers.)
D1 BOYS
INDIVIDUAL RACE PREVIEW
This should be a fast race and Tippacanoe's Sam Wharton's course record of 15:09.95 just may be in jeopardy. Last years #3 runner, Sr. Kyle Mau of Hudson, has the fastest time in the State this year (15:15.17). He ran 15:21.93 last year in his 3rd place finish. Mau has run a 4:13 1600 and was 2nd in last year State 3200 with a 9:03. He has 8 starts this year and 7 wins. His only non-win came last weekend as he ran 3rd in the Youngstown Regional. St. Xavier Sr. Michael Vitucci is ranked 2nd in the State with a 15:16.35. Vitucci was 8th last year (15:42.20), but has 7 starts this year and 6 wins. His 3rd place finish was at the Trinity-Valkrie Invitational in Louisville, Ky. Vitucci is the defending State 1600 champion with a 4:07 and has split sub- 1:50 in the 800. If the race is slow, Vitucci's speed may put him on top of the podium, but Mau shoud pull this one off and get the win. The #3 runner should be Sr. Kevin White of Wooster. He won the Youngstown Regional and was 19th last year (15:58.16). He was 3rd in last year's 800 with a 1:53 and has the speed to run with Mau and Vitucci. New Albany Sr. and the Pickerington Regional winner, Dennis Maloney, gets the nod for the number four spot. He is ranked 5th in the State with a 15:27.70. Mason Sr. Nick Grismer will be in the mix and should be in the top five. He is ranked 4th in the State (15:18.98) and was just back of Vitucci in the Troy Regional. Ignatius Jr. Luke Wagner will also be pushing for a spot in the top five. He is ranked 6th in the State with a 15:28.12. He is having a great season, but may not have the speed at the end of the race this year to break into the top five.

D1 GIRLS
INDIVIDUAL RACE PREVIEW
St. Ursula Sr. Annie Heffernan is the defending D1Champion (18:13.90) and should repeat. She has the 3rd fastest time in the State this season with a 17:35.90 and is undefeated. She has been dominant in her races and won the Troy Regional by just over 20 seconds (18:14.41). She may get a challenge however, from another undefeated runner, Jr. Carlee Rhoads of Medina Highland. Rhoads is ranked #5 in the State with an 18:04.99. She has been dominant as well this year and won the Tiffin Regional by just over 23 seconds. Picing 3, 4 & 5 is difficult, but Jr. Maegan Murphy of Mason ran 2nd to Heffernan at Troy and should get on the podium in the #3 spot. She is ranked #6 in the State with a 18:08.64. She was 41st last year (19:19.17), but has run solid all season. In the 4th spot, will be Youngstown Regional winner Jr. Louiza Wise of Solon . She was 8th last year (18:45.25). Sr. Claire Wiles of Olentangy Liberty should get the 5th spot. She is the Pickerington Regional winner and ran 12th last year (18:55.00). She is ranked 13th in the State with a 18:20.00.
Other girls to watch: Jr. Ann Heuermann of Upper Arlington. Last years #3 runner, Jr. Lainey Studebaker of Centerville. Sr. Emily Stoodley of Worthington Kilbourne. She has the 7th fastest time in the State (18:10.31) and was 2nd in the Pickerington Regional. Sr. Lilly Saniel-banery of Hilliard Davidson. She slipped at Regionals, but has several wins this season and is ranked #8 in the State (18:10.60).
TEAM RACE PREVIEW
Mason should defend their 2013 team title. They are experienced. They won the Troy Regional with 56 points running 2, 7, 9, 18 and 20th. They are ranked second in both Ohio Milesplit rankings and 2nd in the OATCCC poll. The team is led by Maegan Murhpy and has two sisters, So. Ellie and Sr. Erin Brush, in the #2 and 3 spots.
Centerville and Perrysburg will battle for the #2 and 3 spots on the podium. The nod should go to Centerville however. They were 2nd to Mason in the tough Troy Regional with 75 poiints (5, 14, 16, 19 and 21st) and are atop the Ohio Milesplit rankings and the OATCCC poll. At Regionals, the girls were led by freshman Kelli Walsh who was 5th with Sr. Lainey Studebaker 14th in the team scoring. If, Studebaker runs to her potential however, Centerville may displace Mason atop the podium. Perrysburg will be 3rd. The Perrysburg girls won the Tiffin Regional scoring 62 points. They ran 9, 10, 13, 14 and 16th and their 1-5 have split just 29.79 seconds this year.
Olentangy Liberty and Brunswick will be in the 4th and 5th spots. Liberty should be 4th. They ran strong in capturing the Pickerington Regional. 1, 3, 18, 24 and 30th. The team is led by Sr. Claire Wiles and freshman Emma Bower as their #2 runner. Bower is the #1 ranked freshman and 21st ranked overall runner in the State with a 18:26.20. In the #5 position will be Brunswick. They are led by So. Rebecca Craddock who was 2nd at Tiffin, leading her team to the #2 spot at Tiffin with 77 points.
