1912

1912 was an Olympic Year. The 1912 Summer Olympics (Swedish: Olympiska sommarspelen 1912), officially known as the Games of the V Olympiad, were held in Stockholm, Sweden, between 5 May and 27 July 1912.

1912 OHSAA Boys' Championship

Team Champion - Toledo Central 62

Runner-Up - Columbus North 42 1/2 (Coach H. P. Swain)

A young Sophmore, Earl Vail from Toledo Central, led his team to the State title. He tied the State Meet record in the 100 yard dash with a time of 10.1 (11.05). He came back and won the 220 in a new State Meet Record time of 22.3 (22.17) and also ran on the winning Mile Relay team. Two other meet records were set that year; both again by Toledo athletes. In the 440, Brown ran a State Meet record 53.0 (52.69). In the 880, Clement Souder ran a very fast State Meet record 2:01.3. (2:00.6). Souder also was a winner in the Hammer and a member of the winning Mile Relay. A Sophomore from Ashville, Mike Hagley would win the first of his three consecutive Pole Vault championships with a New State Meet record vault of 10-10 7/8.
