Boys Race

Individual Qualifiers:

Chris Fallon and Ben Huszti, Copley; Bobby Over, Wadsworth; Josh Clemente, Firestone; Stephen Haury, Tallmadge; Daniel Lombardo and Anthony Lombardo, Medina Highland; Jack St. Marie, Westlake; Eric Budge, Bowling Green; Abdinasir Ali, Toledo Rogers; Casey Edwards, Springfield-Holland.

Prediction:

The Tiffin Boys Div I Regional has the best matchup that any one could hope for, the number one ranked team in the OCC Poll (number two by milesplit), St. John's Jesuit versus the number two ranked team in the OCC Poll (and number one by milesplit), Medina.  This will be a close battle as both schools could put their first five runners in the top 15 placers for the team race.  Look for Medina to take the crown since they have been running hot since they went down to Virginia.  St. John's Jesuit will be the runner up.  Brecksville-Broadview Heights, Green and St. Ignatius will battle it out for the remaining two spots that move onto Columbus the following weekend.  BB Heights will try to rebound from a subpar performance at district and will finish thrid, with a close St. Ignatius team on their heels in fourth.

Girls Race

Individual Qualifers:

Alania Johnson, Firestone; Nicole Cargill and Megan Toddy, Wadsworth; Kelly Casanova, Copley; Lauren Buser, Green; Haley Hawthorne, Ellet; Sophia Kopasakis, Westlake; Katie Reid, Marion Harding; Kaylee Fisher, Wapakoneta; Brier Sterling, Findlay; Lgan Hamel, Whitmer; Amanda Mannon, Oregon Clay; Gretchen Savage, Toledo St. Ursula Academy; Jessica Soule, Fremont Ross; Meshawn Graham.

Prediction:

Brecksville-Broadview Heights should come away with the team title easily, but the Regionals are rarely easy for any team.  The runner up battle will be much closer though with Toledo Notre Dame, Brunswick and Medina all fighting for a second place finish.  The nod goes to Toledo Notre Dame and their tight bunched pack for the runner-up spot.  Medina will likely avenge their district loss to Brunswick and move onto the state meet by finishing third.  Brunswick has a good shot to make it out in the four spot, will be pushed by Amherst Steele, and both Sylvania's.  Look for Brunswick to move on, but by only a few points.

Boys Race

Individual Qualifiers:

Nate Cremean and Nate Rodriguez, Vermilion; Nicholas Jeffers, Firelands; Andy Ventura and Tyler Kavich, Avon; Angel Senquiz, Clearview; Brad Ferguson, Medina Buckeye; Cory Leslie and Michael Ahner, Sandusky Perkins; Andy Wetzel, Norwalk; Evan Cochran, Ontario; Shawn Bryant, Rossford; Scott Ackerman, Bellevue; DJ Coffman, Genoa Area; Chase Violet and Anthony Spicer, Lima Shawnee; Tyler Verhoff, Ottawa-Glandorf; Derek Snider, Kenton.

Prediction:

Defiance is the clear front runner in this Regional race.  Defiance could be pushed by Bay Village and on an outside chance Toledo Central Catholic.  Bay Village will likely come away as the runner-up, but Toledo Central Catholic had an amazing pack at their district meet, having six runners withing 16 seconds of each other, however their lead runner was barely under 17 minutes.  Toledo Central Catholic, if they can drop some time as a team should come away with the third place finish.  The final team out of this Region will likely be Shelby because of their front runners, but it could also be Tiffin Columbian or Willard if they can pick up the pace just a little bit.

Girls Race

Individual Qualifers:

Shelley Wagner and Jessie Schenk, Port Clinton; Kara Knight and Shawna Roth, Bellevue; Kelly Weisborn and Leah Wagoner, Ostego; Rachel Huddle and Sara Lauf, Napoleon; Mallory Bloom, Kenton; Andrea Glenn, Lima Shawnee; Jessica Kern, Delta; Emily Steva, St. Mary's Memorial; Abbigail Plunkett, Sarah Rospert and Sarah Wallace, Milan Edison; McKenzie Roth and Erika Garn, Clear Fork; Ashley Jackson, Tiffin Columbian; Victoria Predmore, Willard; Jessica Zangmeister, Fairview Park; Catherine Benedict, Holy Name; Deven Karr, Jessie Yagel and Leighann Giriunas, Medina Buckeye.

Prediction:

Defiance is again the clear front runner in this Regional race, and the girls will likely do their part in trying to capture a double Regional title.  Lexington or Wauseon have a good shot at being the runner up, but for this to happen for Wauseon they will have to look for thier 4 and 5 runners to have a big race.  Lexington is the choice for the runner up position followed by Wauseon and either Bay Village or Rocky River.  Bay Village defeated Rocky River last week in a race that was decided by 1 point.  The final spot will be a battle, but look for Rocky River to avenge their loss last week and win a trip to the state meet.

Boys Race

Individual Qualifiers:

Jordan Karnes, Edgerton; Dylan Worley, Swanton; Levi Kurtz, Wayne Trace; Jacob Rettig, Patrick Henry; Caleb Burkey, Allen East; Jim Heider, Lima Central Catholic; Ben Mack, Evergreen; Gregg Gerken, Tinora; Zach Meyer, Hicksville; Tyler Domer, Bluffton; Sebastian Rue, Ayersville; Zach Szablewski, Tiffin Calvert; Dale Balister, Northwood; Eric Bischoff, Monroeville; Matt Baron, Ottawa Hills; Bryce Tiell, Lakota; Kyle Compliment and Wesley Brown, Old Fort; Cameron Crum and Josh Wise, St. Paul.

Prediction:

Delta and Toledo Christian are the most likely teams to take home the regional title, but Gibsonburg should surprise a few teams and actually win the regional title, upsetting the number four (Toledo Christian) and number five (Delta) in the OCC Coaches Poll.  Look for Toledo Christian to be the runner up and Delta to come in third at this Regional meet.  Sandusky St. Mary Central Catholic will likely also earn a trip to the horse track, but Hopewell Loudon could sneak in and take that away from Central Catholic.

Girls Race

Individual Qualifers:

Alissa Malott, Margaretta; Ashley Harrison, Hopewell-Loudon; Ashley Fisher, Gibsonburg; Arianne Rodriguez, St. Mary Central Catholic; Rachel Schaffer, Monroeville; Simone Eli, Genoe Area; Brittany Freeman, Carey; Nicole Lamb, Cardinal Stritch; Chelsea Reese, Patrick Henry; Katrina Gobrogge, Archbold; Wendy Mickelson, Stryker; Amber Poth, Hicksville; Alexis Godeke and Vanessa Gordon, Antwerp; Ashley Sprunger, Sarah Flickinger and Deidre Latham, Pandora-Gilboa; Krista Maag, Columbus Grove.

Prediction:

This will be a tight race for the Regional title, with the four most likely teams to have a shot will be Lakota, Old Fort, Liberty Benton and with an outside shot, Gorham-Fayette.  Lakota is the slight favorite and should take home the Regional crown, with Liberty Benton beating their District Champion, Old Fort.  Gorham Fayette will likely run into the third spot with Old Fort finishing in fourth with a trip to the state meet.
