They weren't 'races,' but...
Jordan Geist's 72-8.75 at Hempfield
The Hempfield gymnasium was barely big enough to hold Jordan Geist's 72-8.75, his latest state record, last Thursday night in Greensburg. That throw moved up to US#3 all-time and he passed Nick Vena's junior class record. It's the fifth time Geist has broken the PA state record this season, and we've still got three weeks left in the season. Get your popcorn ready.
Qayyim Ali clears 6-9 in the high jump
The Williamsport junior has had a relatively quiet indoor season until Saturday. He cleared 6-4 and 6-3 at a pair of State College Invitationals, but Ali really set the bar high (literally) at the PTFCA Carnival, clearing 6-9. That's a new PA#1 and Ali (who has already won a state title outdoors) has made himself the favorite for the state meet in less than two weeks in a very competitive event.
