D1 Girls State Preview - Event by Event!

Sr. Chasatea Brown is the only 2015 finals returner.  She as 7th last year in 44.53.  If she is going to win, she will have to step up against two girls who have gone under 43. and they are OH #2 and 3.  So. J'Alyiea Smith of Withrow is #2 with a Dayton Regional winning time of 42.14.  Sr. MiAngel Daniels, #4, won the Pickerington Regional in a time of 42.91.  This is one of the toughest races on the track.  Expect Smith and Daniels to battle to the last hurdle.  Daniels experience just may help her win this one.

800 Meter Run

This may be won of the best races to watch.  Expect another new State record. Four girls return from last year:  Sr. Rachel Banks of Chardon, Sr. Brittany Aveni of Geneva, Jr. Mary Figler of Walsh Jesuit (2:10.68) and Sr. Anne Ubbing of Magnificat (2:13.10).  Banks set a new State record last year just edging out Aveni.  The two ran 2:07.27 and 2:07.48.  Aveni set a new State record in the Youngstown Regional just edging out Banks.  The two ran 2:07.04 and 2:07.34.  The two know each other well and the race just may come down to who starts their kick first, how the other responds and who can hang on or finish strongest.  It may go under 2:06!
