Andrew Jordan has grown from a 35th in the D1 State XC Meet in 2013 with a time of 16:12.21 to the State champion in 2016 with a time of 15:16.60. He went on last Fall to run 6th at the Foot Locker Nationals with a time of 15:15.60.
Indoors in the 3,200 he is a two time D1 OATCCC Champion, running 9:17.47 in 2015 and 9:03.68 in 2016. He also ran an 8:54.82 at the MileSplit Scholastic Showcase, shattering the All-Time Ohio Indoor 3,200 record of 9:06.49 run by Chardon's Nick Elswick in 2014. He was set to go in the NBNI in the 2-Mile and race day was sick with a stomach virus and did not run.
Outdoors he ran a 10:05.11 in 2013 as a freshman. As a sophomore, he ran a 9:21.24 in Regionals, not qualifying for State. As a junior, he was 3rd in the D1 3,200 with a time of 9:09.93. This year he set a new D1 State record, Meet record and Owens Stadium Record of 8:54.96. He also ran an Ohio All-Time #2 8:46.72 in winning the Eastern Relays. A US #1 at the time. He is currently ranked #2 behind Andrew Hunter of Loudon Valley, VA who has run 8:43.18
Brooks PR 2-Mile - Jordan has the fastest seed time of 8:46.72 entering the Brooks PR 2-Mile. It's a great, stacked field. Including Jordan, four boys have run under 8:50 this year: Noah Affolder of Carthage, NY (8:47.6), Aidian Tooker of Saratoga Springs, NY (8:49.27) and Connor Lundy of 8:49.75 of Fordham Prep, NY. Seven are have run under 8:52. US #2 3,000m, Brody Smith of Cody WY (8:19.04) and US #5 Jackson Mestler of Sheldon, OR (8:21.89) are both in the race. This one won't be slow. Current US #1 is Thomas Ratcliffe of Concord Carslisle, MA with a 9:00.52. Last year, Andrew Hunter won in a time of 8:42.51. It' going to take under 8:50 to win again this year. Expect the mile to be around 4:20-25. Jordan should be comfortable at that pace. He can win, but it will come down to the last 300m. There is a ton of talent in this race. He missed his opportunity indoors, but he won't outdoors. He is ready to run, more than determined and looking forward to a race where he has others to run with and doesn't have to lead and set the pace My prediction - Jordan wins in 8:45-46.
