Joe Bistritz & Gavin Gaynor The Adidas Dream Mile - 6:50pm Today!

Gavin Gaynor prefers the track to XC.  In XC, he was on a NY State Championship team his freshman year, running 28th in 16:15.10. He moved to Ohio and was 46th as a sophomore with a 16:24.03.  He was 17th in 2014 with a 15:54.40 and 2nd last fall to Andrew Jordan, running a 15:13.80.

On the track Indoors Gaynor is a two time OATCCC D1 State 1,600 champion with times of 4:16.84 and 4:09.14.  He was 2nd in the NBNI Mile this year with a time of 4:10.02.  He won the seeded heat, but the winner ran a 4:09.95 in the first heat.

Outdoors, he is a two-time D1 1,600m champion running 4:12.16 in 2015 and 4:09.24 in this years rain delayed race.  In 2015, he ran a 4:13.28, placing 6th in the NBNO Mile.  Gaynor also ran an 8:50.59 in placing 2nd to Andrew Jordan in the Eastern Relays 3,200. His time is OH #3 All-Time (MileSplit Data Base) and an OH #7 All-Time.

The Dream Mile - Gavin Gaynor is ready to run a fast 1,600.  He knows he can run faster than the 4:09.24 1,600 that he has.  He's been under 4:10 indoors and outdoors.  The question is how will the three 4:05 and better guys run.  Gaynor can run 3:02, 3:03 , 3:04 through the 3/4's, but I'm not sure if he can finish under 62.  He will be in uncharted territory.  He's wanted a fast, competitive 1,600 or Mile and this one will give him the opportunity to see what he can do.  He will need to stay in contact with the leaders.  This is not a race to lay back and kick in. Someone will make a definitive move and see who goes with them.  The winner will be the strongest down the last 100m,  I see a 4:06 or 4:07, perhaps 5th, but I hope that I am wrong.
