2016 Ohio Milesplit Year in Review


In 2016, Ohio Track & Field and Cross Country athletes set two new State records in Cross Country, three new State Track & Field Indoor records and eight new outdoor records, as well as making their marks Nationally, winning four individual National titles and two relay National titles.  Here's a pictorial look at some of the highlights of the year from our Ohio Athletes!  



2016 INDOOR


Andrew Jordan won the OATCCC Indoor 3,200m in a new record time of 9:03.68.  (photo Shawn Conlon)


Gavin Gaynor of Hudson set a new Indoor 1,600m record in winning the D1 OATCCC Indoor Championship with a time of 4:09.14.  (photo Chris Greene)

Gahanna Lincoln freshman Madison Martinez had a great freshman year.  Shown here anchoring the Gahanna girl's 4x800 to a new Indoor State record of 9:17.56.  (photo Chris Greene)




Dublin Coffman's Tyndal Hannon anchored the Coffman boy's to a NBNI 4x800m National title with a time of 7:45.27.  Joining Hannon were Simon Alford, Tommy Alford and Lucas Bons. (photos Mary Ann Magnant)

Jr. Jacob Coates of JFK Warrand Stivers Tyler Johnson ran US Tie-#6 60m 6.78s.  Belwo, the two virtually tied in the OATCCC Indoor 60m with Johnson winning the photo finish.  (photos Chris Greene)

The Pickerington Central boys won the D1 Team title indoors.  The PC 4x400 ran a US #4 3:18.47 at the MileSplit Showcase.  Fr. Terry Simuel, shown above anchoring the winning the D1 4x4 at the OATCCC Indoor State Championships.  (photo Chris Greene)


Massilon Perry's Lucas Kelley won the OATCCC D1 Indoor Pole Vault Championships with a vault of 16-5 and followed that up with a US #6 16-9.25 vault, in placing 3rd at at the NBNI.  (photo Shawn Conlon)


Northwest's Malik Beverly was not eligible to run in the OATCCC indoor State championships.  However, he won the MileSplit Showcase 60mH in 7.94 and the LJ in 21-.75.  Outdoors he won the D1 110mH title in 13.93, the 200 in 21.27 and was 2nd in the LJ  with a jump of 23-0.25.  (photo Shawn Conlon)


Austintown Fitch's Logan Kusky led a group of Ohio nationally ranked throwers in the Weight Throw.  Kusky was ranked US #2 with a toss of 74-4.25.  Ohio boys were ranked respectfully, #4 Nick Lane of Bowling Green (75-11), #5 Nik Curtis of Lancaster (75-4.75), #6 Jake Wickey of Medina (74-11.75) and #7 Austintown Fitch's Brent Fairbanks (72-9)   (photo Shawn Conlon)


Dublin Coffman So. Abby Steiner followed up her fantastic Fr. year with an even better So. year.  Indoors she won the 60m above with a new OATCCC girl's Indoor record of 7.38 and the 200 (below) with a girl's #2 indoor time of 24.07.  Her 7.38 was US #6.  She ran a US #9 23.97 in placing 4th in the NBNI 200m.
