The Spire Scholastic Meet #2 took place in Geneva this past Friday with two new Ohio # 1's being recorded to go along with countless PR's being set by the athletes who competed.
Emma Lane of Mentor High School lowered the previous top mark in the state in the 400m with her 56.67 finish and the Spire Academy's Charisma Taylor set a new 60m hurdles Ohio season's best with her 8.91 showing. Taylor had a busy evening, as she also competed in the long jump, where she claimed first place with a jump of 17-04.50.
In 3200m action, Asta Rustad of Oberlin High School put forth an impressive 11:28.47 effort while on the boys side - it was Mentor's Matt Bull who pulled away late to take the win over second place finisher Nate Kawalec of Chardon. Bull's finishing time was 9:38.93 while Kawalec secured a 9:46.50 result. These performances represent the 3rd and 6th fastest times in the state this year.
