Wadsworth High School now owns the #1 Boys 4 x 800m Relay time in Ohio.
The Spire Scholastic Meet #3 took place at the Spire Institute on Friday, February 3rd. Many athletes from throughout Ohio as well as from out of state made the trip to Geneva to participate in exciting track and field action.
Lauren Finikiotis of Pennsylvania's Oakland Catholic captured the Girls 1600m win with her terrific 5:08.81 performance.
Lauren Finikiotis finished strong to emphatically win the Girls 1600m race.
In the Boys 1600m, Anthony Camerieri from Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School made a late charge to overtake Orchard Park's Cal Puskar for the win. Camerieri's winning time was 4:24.33 while Puskar finished in 4:25.19. In addition to the race victory, Camerieri collects an Ohio #7 in the 1600m (and 1 Mile converted) with this effort.

The Boys 800m race produced many high level results as 9 athletes broke the elusive 2 minute barrier. Included in this group was Mentor High School's Matt Bull who registered a 1:57.44 result. Ryan Thrush of Pennslyvania's Brockville Area took 1st place with a stellar 1:54.43 finishing time. This is good for a tie for 9th place on the U.S. overall list.
Matt Bull of Mentor, who often runs the 1600m, got some great speed work in on this night.
Pickerington Central's McKenzie Long had big night as she won both the 60m and 200m events. Her times were 7.58 and 24.87 respectively. Long's teammate, Jaydan Wood was the Girls 400m winner, as she finished in 57.41. Wood's time is an Ohio #3.

Jaydan Wood had to put forth a big kick late to secure the Girls 400m win.
In the field events, John Eakin of Bradford Area claimed 1st place in the Shot-Put with a throw of 53-4 and Geneva High School's Deidra Marrison won the Girls Pole-Vault competition with a mark of 12-0. In relay action, the Wadsworth Boys 800m team recorded a 13 second win over 2nd place Mentor High School and they picked up a new Ohio #1 in the process.
