Matt Peare - State Championship Preview

Matt Peare of Hoover High School is the 2nd ranked 60m Hurdles sprinter in Ohio.

Matt Peare of North Canton's Hoover High School will be seeking a unique double at the OATCCC D1 Indoor State Championship in Akron on March 4th. Peare, a senior who will be competing for the University of Kentucky Wildcats next year, is the #1 ranked Pole Vault athlete in Ohio and he also ranks 2nd in the state in the 60m Hurdles.

Peare's 17-0.25 vault at the Youngstown State Open / High School Meet #3 on February 11th was a facility record for high school boys and it places him in 4th position nationally in the Pole Vault rankings.

Matt Peare is ranked #1 in Ohio with his 17-0.25 vault at Youngstown State.

His time of 8.08 in the 60m Hurdles at the UK High School Invitational on February 18th trails only Lake Catholic's Connor Duricky in the state. Duricky currently holds 1st position with his 8.06 effort at the NEOITC - Erie Division #2 Meet on January 19th at the Spire Institute.

Matt Peare will be seeking wins in the 60m Hurdles and Pole Vault events at State's.

After speaking with Peare's dad, Dan, MileSplit Ohio learned that Matt is currently rounding into form with hopes to peak for both competitions at the State Championship.  Matt Peare's pursuit of a state title in both a track and a field event will be one of the many storylines that MileSplit Ohio will be closely following on March 4th in Akron.  Good luck to Matt and all of the other athletes who will be competing at State's!
