McConnell, who had an excellent 2017 cross country season, won the 3200m race with a time of 9:46.95. The Kenston junior indicated afterward that this result exceeded his expectations going into the meet. He's hoping to compete at the MileSplit SPIRE Scholastic Showcase on February 11th.
