Shaker Heights senior, Sophie Carrier posted an outstanding time of 5:12.83 to win the 1600m race at the NEOITC - Erie Division #3 meet on Thursday evening at the SPIRE Institute.
Carrier took the pace out hard from the onset and never eased up, as she finished 21 seconds clear of the runner-up. Carrier's result represents an Ohio #1 for the 2018 indoor season, both as a straight 1600m and when taking into consideration 1 Mile converted times. The University of Kentucky commit currently ranks 2nd in the state in the 3200m from her 10:57.68 effort on January 18th at the Erie #2 meet and her latest showing indicates that she's prepared to contend for more wins at big upcoming races. Carrier will compete at the MileSplit / SPIRE Schlastic Showcase on February 11th and the NEOITC All-Star meet on February 16th.
