Adam Beucler, who is one of the state's top distance runners, ran Leg 3 for Hudson.
One of Ohio's premier 4x800 teams will be notably absent at the Division 1 Region 1 meet hosted by Austintown Fitch this week. Hudson was disqualified at the recent D1 District - Nordonia meet due to a ruling of interference down the home stretch for the Leg 4 runners. It was determined by race officials that the Brecksville-Broadview Heights athlete had his progress impeded due to the Hudson runner veering too far into his path in Lane 3. The squads were neck and neck over the final 100m, as they were battling for the win (far ahead of the team running in third). The top four teams advanced to regional competition.
Check out the race video below - the act in question begins at approximately 18:50.
There has been spirited debate regarding this decision over online running discussion forums.
What do you think? Should Hudson have been issued a DQ or not?
